Meet Jennifer Le, founder and editor of Prestige Queen, an online destination empowering women through stories with a focus on faith and lifestyle
1 | Tell me about your company… What does your company do?
I am the founder and editor of Prestige Queen, an online destination empowering women through stories with a focus on faith and lifestyle. In addition, I am a PR consultant, where I help businesses develop relationships with the media and grow through press exposure.
2 | How long have you been working in the PR/editorial industry?
I started out my career working with magazines, so I have a background in content creation. I spent over 2 years writing features and interviewing creatives and business owners in fashion, food, and lifestyle while working closely with other PR professionals. I became very interested in that career path, and have been pursuing it ever since! I’ve been able to incorporate all of my passions into one: telling great stories, building relationships, and helping to grow businesses.
3 | What are some challenges you have faced being an entrepreneur?
Something that I’ve had to overcome is the fear of putting myself out there! For the longest time, I was creating all of this great content, but not putting it out there out of fear of what people would think of me. However, when I finally did, I received all of this feedback on how something I wrote was relatable or encouraging to someone else. People really appreciated what I had to say, and I learned then, that my tribe was out there. Someone out there needs to hear what you have to say. Don’t dim your light. Don’t hide your talents or gifts. Because when you do, people miss out.
4 | How much has social media impacted your business?
Social media has been a tremendous help in building a community, meeting other bloggers in the faith and lifestyle space, and getting the word out there. I’ve made so many incredible friends through Instagram alone, and in turn, we collaborate and support each other’s businesses. I am all for it!
5 | What motivated you to take the leap and start your own brand?
I launched Prestige Queen in 2014, not so much with a desire of starting a brand, but out of a need for inspiring content. It has evolved since then over the years. As a young teen, I subscribed to a ton of magazines, and some of the headlines that graced the front page, bothered me. I didn’t think they were the most encouraging messages that we could be sending the young women of today, so I launched my own website in hopes of creating that space.
6 | What advice can you give to your fellow millennial entrepreneurs?
Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there! Your message is going to resonate with the right audience. Also, learn what works best for you. Every brand or business evolves over time, and we learn through trial-and-error.
7 | What is your favorite product and why?
My favorite product is my NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in the shade, Milan. It’s my go-to lip color. Also, I’m obsessed with my Quay Australia High Key Sunglasses in Black Fade!
8 | Who is your biggest influencer or inspiration?
I love Lauryn Evarts with The Skinny Confidential, Gary Vaynurchuk, and Jefferson Bethke. I am on a never-ending quest for more knowledge, and the value they’re providing through their content, is incredible.
