Meet Gina Harrison, CEO of Beau Undies. Beau Undies is a subscription based company that is changing the way women shop for underwear! She attended UC Santa Barbara for her undergrad where she met Shirley Wong, Director of Social Media Marketing & Brand Communications for Beau Undies. Both reside in Los Angeles where Beau Undies is headquartered.
1 | Tell me about your company… What does your company do?
Beau Undies is a subscription based company that is changing the way women shop for underwear. We deliver 2 gorgeous pairs straight to your door every month for only $13.99. Subscribers simply sign up and choose their size and style preference in either thong, cheeky, or mixed and get 2 pairs delivered to them every month!
2 | How long have you been working in your industry?
We launched in November 2017, so it’s been 6 months in business.
3 | What are some challenges you have faced being an entrepreneur?
Challenges are faced daily in the life of an entrepreneur, but if you’re not being challenged, you’re not growing either. One of the challenges I face as an entrepreneur is making sure tasks are organized to maximize efficiency throughout the day. When you’re an entrepreneur, you’re wearing many hats, especially at first when you’re just starting up. To make sure you don’t drop the ball on anything, it’s critical to utilize your calendar and set reminders for every little thing and to keep yourself accountable for your “to-do” list so you’re not falling behind.
4 | How much has social media impacted your business?
Social media is huge for our ecommerce based business. Most of our traffic and sales are generated through social media, so we make it point to put a lot of time and energy into our social media handles.
5 | What motivated you to take the leap and start your own brand?
Undergarments have always been something I always loved. They make women feel good about themselves, and they’re just the prettiest things to put on. When I realized that there was such a limited marketplace for something women needed every day, I wanted to start an underwear company. I used to play around with my sewing machine and made myself a few cute pieces and thought this would be such a fun career. When I pitched the idea to my friend Shirley, she came on board and the wheels started to get rolling!
6 | What advice can you give to your fellow millennial entrepreneurs?
It’s cliché to say, but you really can do anything you set your mind to. If you want to do something, do it. Don’t wait for someone else’s approval or the “perfect” time. You must make mistakes to reach success, so don’t fear failure – invite it and learn from it. Save more money than you spend, and when you use it, use it wisely.
7 | What is your favorite product and why?
Underwear. Need I say more? 😊
8 | Who is your biggest influencer or inspiration?
My biggest influencers are the fellow entrepreneur friends I have and talk to on a frequent basis. Sharing ideas and talking about the things that work and don’t work in business is so helpful and I encourage those who want to be an entrepreneur to go out there and seek out entrepreneur friends. They will be one of your biggest support systems.
9 | Do you have any extra advice you want to give out to the Bossfidence babes?
Surround yourself with other “bossbabe” types. It makes all the difference. Being an entrepreneur is difficult, and will challenge you to your limits time and time again. You have to start building a support system with people who will encourage you and help you succeed. Those who don’t know the hustle will not understand the sacrifices you need to make and the struggles you will have to endure and will most likely weigh you down. This might mean you will need new friends, and that’s okay.
