Start Before You’re Ready
The START is what usually STOPS people.
Whether it’s starting a new fitness program or diet, taking the plunge to start a new venture, or creating a new healthy habit, the biggest roadblock that we face is actually getting started! Change is scary! Even if it’s something that we know is good for us, we are so afraid to do something different because we fear what will happen next. We could fail, it might not work out, or we might just give up because it became too hard.
For me, my big scary goal was creating my first program. My dream (to this day) is to become a full-time entrepreneur and fitness and lifestyle expert, helping millennial women achieve their fitness goals and become confident within their bodies, all while being able to work from home and become a #bossbabe.
The only way to actually get started doing that is by offering something that people can do, which meant creating something of my own and selling it! But, the FEAR and DOUBT started to creep in. My self-limiting beliefs were holding me back. I’d tell myself:
- Who would want to learn or buy from me?
- Who am I to think that I have the knowledge or expertise to help women?
- I’m not good enough, smart enough, successful enough, or fit enough to do this
- I should just go back to my little corner, put my tail in between my legs, and trash this stupid idea
Do you find yourself saying those things as well? But, if we wait until we’re ready, we’ll be waiting for the rest of our lives.
That is why I encourage you to start before you’re ready. Do the thing that’s going to move the needle towards your dream goal. Do it even though it’s scary and you have no idea whether or not it’s going to work out.
The distance between dreams and reality is called ACTION.
ACTION is what helps us figure out whether or not that THING is actually going to help us achieve our goals! If we don’t act on our thoughts, we will always just WONDER, which is obviously not something we want to get comfortable doing.
As for creating my first program, I decided to just GO FOR IT. Yeah, I might not have the biggest audience, or six pack abs, or a ton of certifications and degrees to backup my knowledge, but if I waited until I was “ready” (whenever that is), I’d never do it; and because of that courage, it gave birth to my first program – the FitLIFE Challenge. I put my heart and soul into creating a program that will help women master their nutrition, meal prep, and workouts, and am so happy with the outcome!
Turn Your Struggles Into Successes
A big turning point for me this year was getting fired from a job. I never told anyone because I was ashamed of it and just wanted that experience to be tucked away in my mind. It was a series of not-so-good decisions that I made that ultimately led to the result of being let go.
I was upset, angered, resentful, and disappointed. It was a struggle to figure out my next steps. What do I do now?
You might not have gotten fired from a job, but you might be struggling in some area of your life. Maybe the weight is not coming off, you’re dealing with a crappy relationship, or you might be questioning your career path. Whatever it is, we all have struggles; and we can decide whether to mope about it and play the victim card, or we can use it and transform it to something positive! For me, it was an opportunity to really figure out what I wanted to do in my life. It made me ask life-reflecting questions, such as:
What do I want my dream life to look like? What do I LOVE doing that doesn’t feel like work? How can I use this opportunity to find something more meaningful?
Whatever you’re struggling with right now, you have to ask BETTER questions. Instead of asking “Why me?” ask yourself:
- “What can I learn from this?”
- “How can I overcome this?”
- “What can I do to change this situation?”
Asking BETTER questions will help you to find the success through the struggle. In my struggle, I committed to making sure that everything I did brought me JOY. If it wasn’t making me happy in some way shape or form, it wasn’t worth my time. With that kind of commitment, my life has been so fulfilling, so incredibly happy, and filled with bundles of joy!
Confidence Comes From A Mindset, Not The Number On The Scale
I threw away my scale along time ago. For years, I had been obsessed with reaching a certain number on the scale, and quite frankly, I hadn’t seen that number since freshman year of high school!!! Now being 26, with a curvier athletic frame and a slower metabolism than my high school prime, I can’t expect to reach that number unless I starve myself and eat nothing but lettuce and celery all day; and even when I did get to a really low weight, I felt like I could do more…I could lose more…I could get rid of this flab even more…more, more, more.
When I noticed these thoughts in my head, I had the biggest realization:
No matter your dress size, number on the scale, or how many abs are peeking out, you’ll never be happy until you LOVE YOURSELF from the inside.
Yes, hitting that weight loss goal is awesome and a major accomplishment, but what’s even more rewarding is knowing you are beautiful, confident, and sexy no matter what the scale says. Whether you are 10 pounds heavier or 10 pounds lighter, having a confident mindset is so much better!
Your feelings of self-worth, confidence, self-esteem, and ego will be SKY HIGH when you separate success from Insta-perfection.
