This is seriously the most asked question I get. HOW DO I DO IT ALL? I wouldn’t say I am perfect but I have perfected my method. It’s a learning curve and as Logan get’s older I am constantly adjusting my work flow and productivity. Lately, things have been super slow around here so my productivity is down but my efficiency is up. That’s all part of the balancing act. Managing my personal time, my wife time, my mama time and my work time.
My life revolves around time; scheduling, skipped naps, making dinners, you know the drill. Oh and let us not forget how fast time goes by watching your little grow up. I mean, it feels like yesterday that we came home from the hospital, actually no; it feels like yesterday that I was laying on my bed with my legs butterflied and heat packs on my hips.
The hardest thing though, managing social media profiles while avoiding my personal social media notifications. It is SO hard when I see chat notifications and tag notifications pop up on my alerts! It is tempting AF and I will not deny it.
It is all about remaining present.
Easier said than done but let’s talk about this a bit. How do you maintain being present in ALL of your roles without sacrificing the quality of time spent?
Tricky Tricky.
Here are my top 3 tips on how to grind distraction free.
- TURN IT OFF — & I mean really, turn it the fuck off. Tap the little “Do Not Disturb” button on your phone, turn off the TV, remove yourself from distractions (except your babe because, c’mon you can’t ever turn being a Mama off); and just exist in a distraction free zone. We live in a world where distractions are everywhere but we have the ability as individuals to close our eyes and walk away from them when necessary. Use that ability when maintaining your presence and being present. During the day, you can find me on my phone a good portion but ever since seeing my weekly time spent I made some MAJOR adjustments. I use my DND feature, I set my phone down in another room, I mute my facebook chats. It’’s liberating AF and helps me really focus on what is important.
- THROW IT IN THE BAG — & by this I mean the trash bag. Girl you cannot grind with your desk a mess. These are facts. I cannot tell you how much your mind drifts when your work space is a dumpster fire. That stack of junk mail? SHRED. Those post its from a year ago? DUMP. That coffee cup from last week? TRASH. All of it. If your work space is cluttered, your mind will follow.
- EMBRACE THE CHAOS — If you’re a working mom, work from home mom, stay at home mom, not a mom, college student, high school student; all of it. You’re going to have chaos in your life. The best way to deal with a hectic situation is to lay it all out and tackle one project at a time. I preach time blocking like it is gospel because check it, it’s the only way I function. It is a great way to embrace the chaos but also handle that bitch. Create a checklist, schedule it in, MAKE THE TIME & create the opportunities!
Ladies I am going to be real. I am a certified procrastinator, I am an anxiety case, stress magnet, neat freak, CONTROL FREAK & definitely display OCD tendencies when it comes to cleanliness. I own it. I know it is me.
Figure out what and who you are. Incorporate these skills into your life how they suit you and your goals. You will perfect your method, and when you do it will be liberating AF!
I am all about liberating ya’ life and it’s not just because it makes you a functional adult but because you will turn into an overall happier person.
So the next time you’re grinding, the dogs are barking, the baby is crying and the laundry needs to be done; EMBRACE IT, CLEAN IT UP & TURN OFF THE DISTRACTIONS.

Great tips for everyone…meanwhile I need to clean my desk off when I get home!
