I’ve been following the Ketogenic / Bulletproof / Intermittent Fasting lifestyle for a little over 3 weeks now and it’s been so fun experimenting and exploring new recipes that call for a majority of HEALTHY FATS!
I mean, how fun is that!?
To be on the lookout for the fattiest meals (including desserts!) – that is like a dieter’s DREAM!
Because all of my meals have been 75% fat, 15% protein, and 10% carbs, I actually end up getting FULL a lot quicker and STAY full for hours on end.
I haven’t necessarily been counting my calories, but when I count my macros on My Fitness Pal, it shows me how many calories I’ve been eating and it’s shocking to see that I am eating almost 1,000 calories more than what I used to eat before Keto!
That’s just one of cool perks for being on Keto. If you do it right, your resting metabolic rate may increase, which means your body burns through fat at a much faster rate, which allows you to eat more and not gain weight.
Even though I’ve cut back on my sugar intake drastically, I still love chocolate decadent desserts, which is why I’m so happy I discovered this super easy Chocolate Almond Butter Sauce from Dave Asprey’s book The Bulletproof Diet.
All you need is literally 3 ingredients and you have an awesome spread that is part-chocolate, part-butter, and part-almond butter…talk about the 3 best ingredients in the world!
- Almond Butter
- Unsalted Grassfed Butter (I use Kerrygold)
- Cacao powder
Mix equal parts almond butter and unsalted grassfed butter together. I popped it in the microwave for 15-20 seconds for both to melt a little bit. Stir in as much cacao powder as you’d like, and if you really want, feel free to add some sea salt or stevia for added flavor!
That’s it! This is a spread that you dip virtually anything with! Celery sticks, apples, toast, and banana to name a few. I hope you love this recipe as much as I did! Feel free to share it with your health-seeking friends!
